E34 LH Front Door Locked

G'day all. I've have had a bit of trouble logging in and being able to post, nevertheless, all OK now.
After completing a a relatively extensive driving lesson to a grandson last week, I was unable to open the door of my 1992 520i.
I had to climb out of the driver's door with the help of my hefty grandson!
Rightly or wrongly, I've elected to pull the lock out as I believed the problem was to be the central locking actuator (from the outside, after numerous attempts to open, and playing with the central locking mechanism - it did unlock. Once it opened, I did not shut it again!) That actuator is a VDO unit with a BMW # 67.11 - 8 353 012. VDO # 406.208/2/1.
Question, what do I replace it with assuming that it is not repairable? European made or Chinese, boy there is a price difference.
Anybody have experience with the $35 odd Chinese one?
Regards John

not on BMW's, but on other brands I've tried a few cheap Chinesebunits, but they all seem to fail quicker than genuine parts..

Another option is to hit up the wreckers and and get a 2nd hand one.. should be a lot cheaper and should be available from almost any country..

Thank you jnrdevo.
I thought as much but with such a difference in price I was wondering if somebody had installed such a unit and how was it going?
I'll wait a few days (before I order) in case somebody comes up that has personal experience.

PS: 1. Club permit Bimmer - I'm not anxious to get it fixed as it's nearly out of the 90 day limit because of 2 grandson students.
PS: 2. I've checked out local wreckers, but not too many 90's Bimmers around (3 or 5 series).
