My car is new, should I polish and protect it?

While you would think that the paint in new cars is clean, we can tell you it is not. Many cars have sat in yards, traveled on trucks, trains or ships before they are delivered to you. During this transit period they are partly covered with a protective wrap, however the majority of the paintwork is exposed to the elements.

Prior to delivery the wrap is removed and the car is given a quick clean and polish so it can be handed over to the customer. This procedure usually does not remove the contaminants which have adhered to the paintwork and in fact may of sealed them in.

Our advice is as soon possible, wash, clay (if required) polish and protect the car to your standards, it is also a great time to check the paint for scratches, chips and other marring which may of occurred during the pre-delivery process.

I am buying a new car, should I get "Paint Protection" from the dealer?

This is a very difficult one for us to answer as we do not sell "Paint Protection" products so we can be called biased in our opinion. All we can say is, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is, lifetime warranties are often full of very complex clauses, the profit margins at the dealer on these products are huge which is why the dealers push them so hard. If you were to spend $1000 - $2000 dollars on premium car care products over the time you own your car we can say that it will look just as good and more probably a whole lot better than if you relied on "paint protection" products.

Natural Waxes Vs Synthetic Paint Sealants - what is what, and what is the difference?

Natural Waxes are typically based on Carnauba Wax which is then mixed with other ingredients to provide a usable product. Waxes are applied to protect the polished paint from the elements and they add an extra dimension to the shine

A wax made 100% of 100% pure Carnauba Wax would be extremely hard and brittle and therefore impossible to spread on the car, for this reason many other ingredients are added to a portion of Carnauba Wax to make the finished product. As a rule of thumb you will find that the higher the percentage of Carnauba Wax used the more expensive the product becomes, although price is also influenced by the quality of the other ingredients used.

Carnauba Waxes have limited durability as the wax tends to evaporate and most require re-application every 6 - 12 weeks or even less in some cases. On the positive side most detailing enthusiasts will agree that nothing looks as deep, wet or warm as a freshly Carnauba waxed car. Modern waxes are very easy to apply and remove, provided you do not allow them to dry on the car before buffing off. Thin, evenly applied coats will give the best result.

Synthetic Paint Sealants are typically Polymer or Acrylic based liquids which are used to protect the paint rather than using a Carnauba Wax. Sealants are far more durable than natural Waxes and some will give up to 6 - 8 months of protection. Typically the trade off for this durability is that the shine is often described using terms such as: Plastic, Sterile, One Dimensional etc. Paint Sealants are extremely easy to apply and remove. Apply a thin coat to the entire car and leave it sit for 30 - 60 minutes, then wipe off using a super soft Microfibre cloth.

To get the best from both products, top the sealant with Carnauba Wax.

I have swirl marks on my car, should I remove them or hide them?

Swirl marks, holograms, spider webbing or marring are minor imperfections which take away from the look of your paint. To the perfectionist there is no argument, they must be removed. This is done with an abrasive polish, often called a compound or swirl remover.
On the other hand a lot of people do not want to spend the hours this process can take and are therefore happy to use a non-abrasive filling polish which will remove some of the marks and fill others. At Waxit we cater to both sides of the market, if you need advice on which products to use contact us on info@waxit.com.au for clarification.

I have just had a repair on my paint should I apply sealant or wax?

We would suggest you wait about 60days before you apply any protection to the fresh paint, this period will allow the paint to fully cure. During this time it releases solvents and gases which if you applied a sealant or wax over could be trapped in the paint causing a reduction in durability of the paint. New cars are painted with a different process and therefore this is not an issue with them.

What products and pad combination should I use on my paint?

This will vary depending on the make and model of the car, the seriousness of the imperfections, the hardness of the paint and your desire to either totally remove or just reduce the amount of imperfections on your car. The general rule is: Use the least aggressive option first and if it fails to remedy the paint, go to stronger products or firmer pads. Sometimes you will find that an aggressive product on a soft pad is the answer. It is trial and error to find the right combination for that particular car.

Why does Waxit have so many different brands?

If one product could do everything we would only carry one. Unfortunately that is not the case so we have chosen a range that we believe covers all the different facets of car care. Our wide range also means we dont play favourites, we will always advise to you to use the product thats suits yoour application best, not just the one we happen to sell. Brand loyalty is also a factor in the car care world, much like the Holden Vs Ford debate.

Finally we like to ensure that our customers have the chance to locally purchase the latest products and tools while visiting one store rather having to go from shop to shop.

I want to talk to someone before I choose my products, can I do this?

Of course you can. Our contact phone numbers are on our home page and we will endeavour to answer the phones at any sensible time 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We also vet all orders and should we think that a customer has ordered something which does not fit with the rest of the order, we will often make a quick a call and discuss this issue with the customer to ensure all is ok.

I do not have a Credit Card or I dont trust the web with my details, how can I make a purchase?

You can place the order via our secure checkout and choose "Email" as your payment method, we will then contact you and discuss payment options. Otherwise you can call and place a phone order, fax us or even send a order via snail mail, so far we have managed to solve all of these types of challenges.

I have seen a product overseas and would love to try it but do not want to import it, will you special order for me?

If we are placing an order we can order the product or products you desire, full payment will be required at the time of ordering. Also please remember that some of our orders come by sea and therefore you could be waiting a couple of months for the products. The best bet if you wish to do something along these lines is to call or email us and discuss it.
