Default engine swaps .is it possible to fit a 318i 95 model engine to a 93 model

I was hoping some one has done this one without changing wiring harness and the ECU. sounds impossible however my thoughts are if one could adapt the crankshaft sensor on 95 model to the 92 model electronics, and the trigger on the cam ( mounted on front of head ) which is successor to a the rotor button? to the same. Has any one tried this ? is this a blasphomy of biblical proportions to a BMW?.your thoughts dear members. have mercy. Motorhead

I looked at a similar thing for my Audi, but got told, yes, can be done, but it's better (cheaper!) to just flog your car and buy one with the engine you want...

Yeah, ECU and sensors are normally the problem with swapping an engine.... Then you've got the other stuff like aircon, matching up the headers/exhaust etc....

Then again, if you can get a cheap engine (free?) and the electronics to sort it, it might not cost that much :-) )
