318i VS 323i , who will win the battle of Daily Cruiser

Hey Guys.

Im thinking of buying a e46 to use as getting to/from work so not as a track deamon car as such.

Im looking at 318i but everyone is telling me to go for 323i, without any backup explanation as to why.

My main priority is "low fuel consumption" as far as power i dont really care, she just needs to drink as less as possible.

So in basic terms, 318i or 323i and why

I think a lot of people think the 318i is under powered for the size and weight of the car...

I'd do a bit of research on economy on the two cars before deciding...
